An otherwise unremarkable birding trip on the Jones Barrier Beach (Captree
State Park to West End) was highlighted by eight species of raptors, including:

Bald Eagle (2) - Two immature birds, one at Tobay, the other flying over the
marsh at Jones as seen from Bay Parkway.

Rough-legged Hawk (2) - one dark morph at Tobay, as seen from the parking lot.
A second dark morph bird perched in a shrub right along the biking trail east
of Field 6 (photo).

Red-shouldered Hawk (1) - An immature bird sitting on a guardrail on the north
side of the parkway west of the water tower (photo).

Red-tailed Hawk (1) West End.

Northern Harrier (5). Various Locations.

Cooper's Hawk (1) - At West End.

Merlin (1) - East of Field 6.

Perergrine Falcon (1)- Jones Water Tower.

An added bonus on our return home was a Common Raven loudly calling as it flew
over our home in Babylon.
