This past weekend I had a Common Raven flew over my house in Ronkonkoma (this is not the first time I've had that) and today Mike Rath and I had another at Fuchs Pond in Northport.
It appears this bird is becoming very well established on Long Island (especially with some known nest sites in recent years). Ebird reports show a number of sightings in the past 5 years (2015-2010) but basically zero in the 5 years prior to that (2010-2005). I am sure the popularity of eBird in recent years has contributed to that. On a different note: Massachusetts had 4 swallow-tailed kites yesterday at Pilgrim Heights Hawk Watch. So keep looking up New York. -Dave -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
