For the past few year, there have been Cliff Swallows nesting on various
buildings on the Purchase College (SUNY) campus, where I teach. Though the
grounds-keeping staff periodically take down some of the nests perhaps
mistaking them for wasp nests (I have sent several e-mails complaining to the
appropriate administrators, to no particular effect), the birds are thriving,
rebuilding their nests sometimes and changing locations. Currently there are
many Cliff Swallows in the air especially above "The Mall"--central campus
area; these probably include a first brood. I should add that on a recent
quick walk through the more "natural" areas of campus the other day, I recorded
33 species, including an apparent migrant Acadian Flycatcher, an apparent local
Willow Flycatcher, Brown Thrasher, and a nice array of fairly common nesting
species.

There's also a nest on the Hunter Island Bridge near the Pelham Bay Park
landfill found by Matthieu Benoit June 7, 2015. Jared Cole found a Cliff
Swallow nest on the Hunter Island Bridge a few years ago which was reported by
Richard Aracil.
