The American White Pelican was present this morning just south of the
island at the north end of the east pond. Distant scope views are
obtainable from the Big John's Pond overlook.
The bird actively fed the entire time it was in view by plunging it's head
under water while swimming. When the bird's head was underwater it was
virtually indistinguishable from the many Mute Swans present.
Other waterfowl of note were 3 drake Redhead, 5 Pintail, both scaup and
over 300 American Coot.
I searched in vain for the drake Eurasian Wigeon, but there were well over
2000 waterfall to sift through and many coves out of view.

The gardens were devoid of birds.
