I had a productive day at the Massapequa Preserve today. I saw 37 species (listed on ebird), the highlights being a late season phobe, a Lesser Black-backed Gull on Massapequa Lake resting on the southeast corner of the lake with a large flock of other gulls, and a male Eurasian Wigeon.
The Eurasian Wigeon was in a secluded part of the stream accessible only by a spur off the greenbelt trail about halfway between Merrick Road and Sunrise Highway. -- Joseph O'Sullivan -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
