I wrapped up a day of birding out on Long Island with a late afternoon
seawatch at Shinnecock Inlet which was quiet save for a late Sooty
Shearwater. Any December records out there?

Waterfowl were non existent with only a few Common Eiders and Long-tailed
Ducks out on the ocean. A good number of Gulls were off the East Jetty but
they were all the expected loafers. A search along Dune Road did not turn
up anything of note. Quite disappointing actually as I had visions of
Sparrows popping up from the marsh.

Are you getting excited about those CBCs as yet? I am and I have been
scouting for a few. If you are interested in participating in the West
Bronx, hit me up. I would like to deepen the bench for some areas.

Cheers,
