On the 1st day of count week period for the S. Nassau CBC, I had an
opportunity to visit 9 locations within the count circle along with Suzanne
Cristallo onboard for a nice outing under calm conditions with good
visability.

Highlights were:

Marsh Wren (1 at Oceanside Marine Study Area)
Black-crowned Night Heron (27 at Cammanns Pond)
Great Egret (4 at Cow Meadow Park)
Monk Parakeet (16 at Cow Meadow Park)

The group in Freeport near Cow Meadow is a long running colony that may
easily total over 50. This, combined with other known locations for these
may point toward a record number for this CBC. There is also a population
in the ballfield towers just east of Norman J. Levy Preserve, as well as at
least 15 birds with nest structures on the grounds of Blssed Sacrement
Church on Central Ave. in Valley Stream.
