  The Buffalo Bird Report is a service provided by your
  Buffalo Museum of Science and the Buffalo Ornithological

  Highlights of reports received April 21 through April 28
  from the Niagara Frontier Region.

  YELLOW-H. BLACKBIRD, for several days including April 23, in
  South Buffalo, on Wasson Street near Ridge Road.

  A long list of migrants and arrivals at several locations
  this week. A rare find in migration - a PRAIRIE WARBLER at
  Tifft Nature Preserve in Buffalo. Other warblers reported
  this week - NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, PALM WARBLER, PINE WARBLER
  and YELLOW-R. WARBLER.

  Sparrows were highlighted by VESPER SPARROW and LINCOLN'S
  SPARROW at Tifft Nature Preserve, plus widespread CHIPPING
  SPARROW, FIELD SPARROW, SAVANNAH SPARROW, FOX SPARROW,
  WHITE-THR. SPARROW and WHITE-CR. SPARROW.

  Also at Tifft Nature Preserve this week, VIRGINIA RAIL and
  SORA.

  At Beaver Island State Park on Grand Island, all six regular
  swallow species - PURPLE MARTIN, TREE SWALLOW, N. ROUGH-W.
  SWALLOW, BANK SWALLOW, CLIFF SWALLOW and BARN SWALLOW. At
  the park marina, over 20 HOODED MERGANSERS and 8 GREAT
  EGRETS.

  In the Southern Tier, BOBOLINKS arrived April 25 in the Town
  of Hinsdale in Cattaraugus County.

  Other reports - CHIMNEY SWIFT, YELLOW-B. SAPSUCKER, BLUE-
  HEADED VIREO, BROWN CREEPER, HOUSE WREN, WINTER WREN, BL.-
  GR. GNATCATCHER, RUBY-CR. KINGLET, VEERY, HERMIT THRUSH,
  GRAY CATBIRD, BROWN THRASHER and EASTERN TOWHEE.

  Also this week - pairs of COMMON MERGANSERS on South Park
  Lake in South Buffalo. Migrant COMMON LOON, BROAD-WINGED
  HAWK and NORTHERN HARRIER over Tonawanda. L. BLACK-B. GULL
  at Woodlawn Beach Park in Hamburg. MERLINS in North Buffalo.
  And pairs of PILEATED WOODPECKERS in Elma and Clarence.

  The Bird Report will be updated Thursday evening, May 5.
