I spent a quiet but lovely morning on the East Pond at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge.
There were very few shorebirds around and I mean few as in: 2 Lesser Yellowlegs. 2 Killdeers, 12 American Oystercatchers and 3 Spotted Sandpipers (2 adults and 1 juvenile). No sign of the RUFF (I did not see it) or any Short-billed Dowitchers today. There was a small change in waterfowl as I observed 4 Green-winged Teals. These are definitely new arrivals. The only other duckage highlight would be 2 continuing Ruddy Ducks and 26 Gadwall Ducklings from 3 broods.
