Having yet to see my first snowy this season, this afternoon I headed down
to Dune Rd., and wound up covering it completely, from Shinnicock Inlet
(Hampton Bays) to Cupsogue Co. Park (West Hampton Dunes)...with no change
in that dubious distinction ! I did, however, see an A.Bittern in open
water on the bay side, opposite house #79, in addition to a single Clapper
Rail, in open water on the bay side, between the 1st & 2nd poles w/o house
# 79.

Earlier, while heading s/on Rt.105 in Riverhead, I had a possible old
friend pass overhead - I refer, of course, to "Lonesome George", the
solitary Turkey Vulture !

Cheers,
Bob
P.S...I mention the following in a historical sense: On 1/5/18 a pair of
C.Ravens rested for a short while in the White Pines located in our
backyard. This is the first time this species has been recorded either on,
or over, or in the bordering properties of our Condo in Riverhead. This
represents a span of 16 years, 7 months and 6 days, and brings the Condo's
species total to 123
