Greetings,Many on this list have surely made the annual visit to enjoy wintering raptors at Galeville (SGNWR) and neighboring Blue Chip Farms and realize how wonderful this region can be for many other types of birds as well. For that reason we are excited to announce the newest Ulster County-centered Christmas Bird Count, the Minnewaska/Shawangunk (NYMS). This circle will include good stretches of both the Wallkill and Rondout rivers, the entirety of the Minnewaska State Park, and a whole lot of diverse habitat extending south into parts of Orange and Sullivan Counties. Several sectors could still use experienced birders and those interested should contact NYMS compiler Nick Martin (845-255-0752 or nicholas.mar...@parks.ny.gov ) for assignment no later than Saturday, December 29nd.
