This afternoon, Brian Smith found a Black-Bellied Whistling Duck on the University at Albany, SUNY campus. The bird is hanging out by "Indian Pond," which is towards the south end of the campus. Visitors can park in visitor lot 2 for $5 or at one of the businesses on Western avenue and then walk a bit. The bird is not banded and shows no signs of pinning. This is a first record for the county.
