Sorry for second post - but one other thing. The landfill grassland has undergone a major restoration project; so if you do visit CPP and want to walk the landfill stay on the two main "roads" only; the one over the center of the landfill and the one on the east (Phragmites) side of the landfill. Signs to that effect are prominent. (This includes photographers.) Thank you.

Also the Purple Martin colony has done pretty well; many adults and young birds scouring the landfill this am. It does appear grasshopper sparrow has bred and likely bobolink. No rarities yet this summer in the park, although Caspian Tern (2) was seen at the train station yesterday for several hours until tide turned; a short tome visit from a yellow crowned night heron earlier this summer is pretty un-common on this side of the County. Caspian is marked rare on e-bird but they are a regular visitor often both spring and fall migration. We are mid-July so not sure what this visit was. On a lepidopterist note, I "helped" out (using that word generously) on the Northern Westchester Butterfly County yesterday and in the Teatown area we had 23 species (list below), although a few more skipper photos are being circulated for ID.
