A regionally-rare (extra-limital but not so far) Pacific Golden-Plover
continued on at Sikorsky airport in Stratford, Connecticut, as of mid-afternoon
Fri., 10/30, with updates being posted on the CT-Birds list-serve; thanks to
all who were & are posting on that great discovery.

...
Central Park, Manhattan, N.Y. City - Friday, Oct. 30th:

just a fairly quick note - on the Central Park reservoir in the a.m. were still
at least some of the Lesser Scaup (in east-central sector, loafing with some
Ruddy Ducks) and closer to n.e. shore, at least 3 American Wigeon- also a
somewhat uncommon species for N.Y. County; not as uncommon as the preceding, a
single Ring-necked Duck was also among the group of 5 L. Scaup, a Common Loon
which had been present on Thurs., 10/29 was also again present there today, s.
side as of late morning. Duckage also ongoing included Hooded Mergansers, N.
Shovelers, Buffleheads, Gadwalls, Ruddy Ducks, Wood Ducks (in other C.P.
waterbodies); and more-regular Mallards, Amer. Black Ducks, Canada Geese; with
2 Am. Coots & Pied-billed Grebe, plus a few D.-cr. Cormorants also lingering at
the reservoir. Good mix of late-fall songbirds also about, as the rain was
lightening to just a drizzle. At least one other C.P.-birder was also at the
reservoir observing some or all of above concurrent to my a.m. visit there. No
re-sighting (for Fri. a.m.) of an Eve. Grosbeak as had been seen (& reported as
heard) on Thursday in mid-Central Park.

Once again photos were obtained of above-noted ducks, etc. on Friday, 10/30.
One dozen spp. of waterfowl in Central Park is not all too shabby. And it’s
still October...

keeping it real - stay safe out there - masked-up, and ‘distanced'
appropriately,

Tom Fiore,
