RED-NECKED GREBE GLOSSY IBIS BRANT CACKLING GOOSE GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE KING EIDER GOLDEN EAGLE SANDHILL CRANE BLACK SCOTER SURF SCOTER WHITE-WINGED SCOTER BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER RED PHALAROPE LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL LAUGHING GULL BLACK-LEGGED KITTYWAKE PARASITIC JAEGER SHORT-EARED OWL NORTHERN SHRIKE SEDGE WREN ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER VESPER SPARROW EASTERN MEADOWLARK EVENING GROSBEAK Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC) ------------ 10/19: A GLOSSY IBIS was seen on Armitage Road. 10/20: 9 species of shorebirds including AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER and STILT SANDPIPER were seen of Armitage Road. 10/22: A CACKLING GOOSE was seen on Armitage Road. 10/23: A CATTLE EGRET was seen on Armitage Road. It was relocated on the 24th. 10/24: A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was seen at Knox-Marsellus Marsh. The season’s first NORTHERN SHRIKE was found at the Audubon Center on Rt. 89. It was relocated on the 25th. at the same location. Onondaga County ------------ The long staying LAUGHING GULL was seen as recently as 10/24 on the docks near the Ampitheater on the west side of Onondaga Lake. 10/20: A late SEDGE WREN was found at 3 Rivers WMA north of Baldwinsville where they were breeding earlier this season. A lat EASTERN MEADOWLARK was seen at the Marina on Onondaga Lake in Liverpool. 10/23: 3 SURF SCOTERS were seen at Onondaga Lake at times near the Marina to near the Marshy Spits. A RED-THROATED LOON was seen from the Liverpool Marine on Onondaga Lake. A CACKLING GOOSE was see at Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse. 10/24: A SHORT-EARED OWL was seen at 3 Rivers WMA north of Baldwinsville. 3 BRANT were found near the Marshy Spits on the west side of Onondaga Lake. 10/25: A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen if flight from Hoag Road south of Baldwinsville. A DUNLIN was still present at Oneida Shores Park in Brewerton. Oswego County ------------ 10/19: At Derby Hill all three SCOTERS, a RED PHALAROPE, a PARASITIC JAEGER, a BLACK-LEGGED KITTYWAKE and a RED-NECKED GREBE were all seen from the bluff. 10/20: A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen at the outlet of Sandy Pond on Lake Ontario. It was found again the next day. 10/21: 7 Shorebird species including BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, SANDERLING and DUNLIN were all seen at the Sandy Pond Outlet. 10/22: A KING EIDER and 7 SURF SCOTERS were seen from the bluff at Derby Hill. An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen at a private residence in Hastings. 10/25: 5 VESPER SPARROWS were seen on Bishop Road north of Port Ontario. Madison County ------------ 10/19: A SANDHILL CRANE was found near Oxbow Road south of Canastota. 10/21: An AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER was seen at the Sky High sod farm on Lakeport Road north of Canastota.
