Because several persons voiced skepticism regarding the identification of this bird I requested comments from a half dozen gull aficionados; all of whom have extensive experience with gulls and gull identification. The three responses I received are unanimous that the bird is indeed a Nelson’s Gull (Glaucous x Herring hybrid).
