Always one of the high points on my annual calendar is the first visible
spring migration. The first moth night is up there too, but that doesn't
look like it's happening too soon. But warm enough today to open up the
Alley Creek Hawk Watch, with some much needed (after the last month's
weather) migrants to enjoy. That featured a Bald Eagle, an unexpected for
here adult Red-shouldered Hawk, 3 Red-tailed Hawks, and 5 Turkey Vultures.
Granted all species that can be seen in winter, but they look better when
heralding the advance of spring.

Also around were a pair of Killdeer. I hadn't been out trudging through the
snow here before today, so I don't know if they're arrivals or had wintered
locally (they do that on Alley Creek some years).
