This 2023 annual meeting of the New York State Ornithological Association (NYSOA) will include a wealth of birding activities—field trips, special speakers, research updates, and vendors—as well as a gathering of delegates from among the 40+ bird clubs and Audubon chapters affiliated with NYSOA. (More about NYSOA: https://www.nybirds.org) The 2023 New York Birders Conference / NYSOA Annual Meeting is being hosted by Saw Mill River Audubon at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel & Conference Center in Tarrytown. Some Friday night activities will also be held at Croton Point Park. 2023 Conference Highlights * Saturday night banquet speaker will be David Allen Sibley, renowned bird artist and field guide author. * Tom Stephenson, co-author of The Warbler Guide will be our workshop keynote presenter on Saturday afternoon. * Birding field trips on Saturday and Sunday mornings will visit locations along the Hudson River and Long Island Sound focused on NYS Important Bird Areas, with good timing for the fall migration of many neotropical migrants, shorebirds and raptors. * Additional Saturday afternoon workshop topics will include birding skills, bird photography skills, advocacy and the arts. * Saturday afternoon paper/poster sessions will present research topics in ornithology. Conference hotel rates at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel & Conference Center can be extended to Thursday and/or Sunday nights for you to add some NYC to your NYSOA weekend. * Please do not make hotel reservations at our conference venue before April 1st.
