Shorebird diversity is still good at Jamaica Bay, with 17 species seen on the East Pond this morning. The highlights were a Wilson's phalarope at the north end south of the cove, and the two continuing American avocets. Other birds included 1 western sandpiper and 6 stilt sandpipers at the north end, a pectoral sandpiper at the south end, 3 red knots, a ruddy turnstone, 2 killdeers, and about a dozen white-rumped sandpipers.
