Jon & all the many thousands of people who visit or take an interest
in the birds of Central Park - here is the most up-to-date checklist
available for birds occurring in Central Park. Note that if a species
is not mentioned at all anywhere in this list (in PDF document form)
then it may well be a very rare bird (or perhaps among a long list of
"exotic" species which do not occur naturally here but turn up in
this ultra-urban green oasis). The people who did the majority of
work compiling this list are Rebekah Creshkoff and Marie Winn, of New
York City, the checklist's attractive cover illustration just one of
Ed Lam's lovely creations. The list is available here: http://
www.centralparknyc.org/site/DocServer?docID=155
Enjoy that... and do absolutely nothing to disturb the birds.
