The Orange Crowned Warbler I found last week in the campground parking
lot at Croton Pt re-materialized this afternoon in the same location.
This time the bird was a bit more obliging and got within several fts
distance of me on the lower branches of the pines in the lot. The bird
was often flushed by two Sapsuckers sharing the same tree with it but
remained in the general area. On the waterfowl side of things there
were significantly less ducks at both the train station and on the
river than there has been recently, with only a few Canvasback,
Ruddys, Gadwall and a lone Lesser Scaup being the only things of
interest. 3 Northern Pintail were amongst the Mallards at the train
station marsh earlier this week but both them and a large majority of
the Mallards seem to have dispersed since much of the ice melted. The
4-5 Redheads that have been frequenting the boat launch at the end of
the train station since late December also couldn't be found.
