This afternoon I went in search of the Gnatcatcher Angus Wilson found
in MY patch (at the south end of Long Pond, Sag Harbor, Suffolk Co.)
and I dipped completely. However, a VIRGINIA RAIL, which was
spontaneously calling (the kidik-kidik-kidik call) from the cattail
marsh, made up for the disappointment.
