This morning brought Scarlet Tanager and Red-eyed Vireo to my "not very birdy" yard in Ridge in central Suffolk County, and that was enough to get me out to a couple of the local spots that have been pretty quiet up till now. In Ridge, Yellow and Blue-winged Warblers, and House Wrens were conspicuous and apparently on terrtiory, while five miles to the east, in Calverton, Blue-wings and Praries were easy to find near the Grumman propoerty and along the Peconic River. A single Black and White was another FOS for me. Its likely that none of these except the Tanager and Vireo were passing through- all the warblers I found today appear to have come straight in to breeding territories.
