Hi all,

I joined a group from Bedford Audubon today (5/1), led by Tait Johansson, to
some local Westchester spots. Lots of new migrants came through last night -
for me, 17 new species on the year.

79 species total today, including 13 warblers.

Marshlands Conservancy - I started at 6:15, then met up with the group at
around 8. Highlights included:
Black-crowned Night-Heron
Clapper Rail (terrific extended looks at one calling)
Willet (3, noisily displaying)
Great Crested Flycatcher
Eastern Kingbird
Blue-headed, Warbling, and Red-eyed Vireos
Tree, N. Rough-winged, Bank and Barn Swallows
Wood Thrush (1+, singing)
8 warbler species, incl. Blue-winged, Black-throated Blue, Prairie,
Black-and-white, and Ovenbird
Baltimore Oriole
BOAT-TAILED GRACKLE (2, male and female, both viewed well in the scope -
rare in Westchester, possibly only the 4th county record)

Rye Nature Center - 11 am
Blue-headed Vireo
Veery
Wood Thrush
12 warbler species, incl. Northern Parula, Black-throated Green,
Blackburnian, Louisiana Waterthrush

Read Sanctuary - 1 pm
Ring-necked Duck (late)
White-eyed Vireo (singing)
Blue-winged and Yellow Warblers
Baltimore Oriole (2, singing)

More migrants tonight!
