Forwarding the message from Richard Leiberman, via Eve Levine, from Central Park, Manhattan, N.Y. City from the ebirdsnyc list.
Friday, 7 May, 2010 http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ebirdsnyc/message/7691 Richard Lieberman just called to say there's a Common Moorhen just off the Point * ... in Central Park. It's on the side facing the Boathouse, with lots of people already on the bird. Eve Levine - - - * Note: "the Point" is part of the Ramble immediately west of the Boathouse cafe, and is on the Lake's eastern section. Nearest park entrances are at Fifth Avenue & East 72 Street, a smaller entrance near East 76 Street. The Boathouse cafe is at the east drive roadway of the park, off East 75th St. (approx.) - it's likely birders will be encountered in the area... along with many other people! Note 2: Common Moorhen is quite uncommon -esp. in recent years- in Central Park.
