This evening I heard a CHUCK-WILL'S-WIDOW in the woods south of Long Pond, Sag Harbor (Suffolk Co.). The bird apparently was along Sprig Tree Path/Widow Gavits Road and appeared to be calling from somewhere between Crooked Pond and Deer Drink. The bird only called for about a minute and I could not relocate it after its initial song burst at about 9pm.
