I spent an hour and a half this evening (4 30 - 6 00 Thursday June 10th)
watching for the previously reported Mississippi Kite in the Town of Root,
Montgomery County, but came up empty.

Another group was in the area around noon today. They also dipped.

The weather may have been a factor - it was rainy at noon, and windy in the
evening.

However, one was seen mid-day Monday perched along Mapletown Road as a rain
shower loomed.

And there is an unshared report of a sighting sometime yesterday (Wednesday,
the 9th).

So far, all the reports that I've seen have been on one, not two birds as
last year.

So there you have it - sometimes we hit and sometimes we miss.
