This afternoon I found a pair of black-billed swans on Artist Lake in Middle Island. The birds kept to a small area of open water towards the south end of the lake. Although distant, they appeared to be Trumpeters- probably the same birds that have been frequenting Upper Lake in Yaphank, which is about 2 or 3 miles to the south.

Artist Lake is on the south side of Middle Country Rd (Rt 25) less than a mile east of its intersection with Yaphank Middle Island Rd (Rt 101).
