Today around noon, Rob Stone, Bob Cotter (?) and I were at the Wallkill NWR Liberty Marsh watching an abundance of birds when I noticed a huge flock of Snow Geese just east of the observation area. Rob went to try to view them from another location while Bob and I walked out the trail opposite the OA. As we proceeded, we came to an open field/marsh area where we estimate 2000 Canada Geese were feeding. With them were over 150 Northern Pintails, a few Mallards and Black Ducks. We then went and joined Rob on Mission Road where we could better view the Snow Geese. There were approximately 2500 SG! Wave after wave of snow geese came in as we watched. I took photos and by cropping and counting sections, that number is just about right. Other birds seen were Northern Harrier, Rough-legged Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk and Turkey Vultures. John Haas
