Thanks again to John Haas for ably directing birders to the geese. Immense
pleasure was received by seeing thousands of Snow Geese at one time in the sky
(several times) not to mention seeing the relative rarity Ross' Goose (finally
thanks especially to Scott Balinger's persistance). I am sorry that Gerhardt
Patch did not see the Ross' Goose that I saw. I would find it and then it would
realize that Gerhardt was taking a peek so it would begin feeding, effectively
disappearing from view. Once Gerhardt would go back to his scope the Ross'
would pick up its head for a look around. This occured for several iterations
at the Onion Farm, not to be confused with Onion Road in Minisink. The golf
course in Pine Island provided a variety of waterbirds including two species of
swan and several of ducks and a Killdeer. The Turf Farm near Missionland Road
provided views of mulitple Bald Eagles including a Golden Eagle by Orlando's
buddy (both from Westchester county). Missionland Road had a reported half
dozen Common Merganzers although it held many geese during prior days. Jerry
