Around 12:30 while driving south on the Wantagh Parkway from Hempstead Turnpike I was very surpised to see a small group, maybe 4, of Wild Turkeys feeding on the west shoulder. This was a little before the green sign saying Southern State 1 mile. I also noticed a school to the right through the trees. This is a bird that has recovered with a vengeance, given its low numbers only a couple of decades ago --
