This afternoon (4:00-4:30), on my way home from Jones Beach (thanks Shai and Pat for the Iceland Gull and Semi plovers), I drove down Captree Island Road to see if there were any new arrivals out on the marsh. Present were both yellowleg species (1 of each), a lone Willet, a flyover flock of ~20 Least Sandpipers, and a Little Blue Heron. NOT seen were 2 male Blue-winged Teal found during a visit this past Monday.
I birded Connetquot River State Park in the morning (7:45-11:00), and like Ken Fuestel did not encounter the Yellow-throated Warbler (Jim Osterlund, you have impeccable timing!). I DID find 6 other warbler species though, all those mentioned by Ken plus Blue-winged, Palm, and Common Yellowthroat. Also seen were a Blue-headed Vireo, and one nesting pair each of Eastern Phoebe and E. Bluebird.
