All 27 species seen are considered 'Common' on the Westchester checklist compiled by Michael Bochnik. Ninty-three species are listed as 'Common' for 'Summer' on this checklist. A visit to a few spots should net a good many species on a summer outing. When comparing the birds seen with the Breeding Bird Atlas I noticed that Mallard was not reported for this block (5856B) in the 2nd Atlas. This block contains almost all of Blue Mountain Reservation including many water bodies. The 1st Atlas does show Mallard as a confirmed breeder in this block.
