Philip Dempsey and I went out again after lunch and hit a few spots (with so
many birds about, I'm just mentioning the notables):

Sammy's Beach: 6 BLACK TERNS, 1 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER
Three-mile Harbor (West): 1 ROYAL TERN
Hook Pond: 2 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES, 1 WESTERN SANDPIPER (we tried to go to
the West End of Hook Pond but the area is blocked off by police due to beach
erosion on Main Beach).
Further Lane: 3 BRIDLED TERNS, 1 PARASITIC JAEGER, 1 ROYAL TERN (all
hunkered down in the grass)
Napeague Marsh: 16 BLACK TERNS
Fort Pond Bay: 6 BRIDLED TERNS, 1 SANDWICH TERN
Little Reed Pond: 1 BLACK TERN
Deep Hollow Ranch: 6 AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVERS, 2 BAIRDS SANDPIPERS, 7
PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 2 STILT SANDPIPERS, 1 SOLITARY SANDPIPER, etc.
Montauk Point: the park was closed, cars were being turned away.

Many thanks to Angus Wilson (for posting early today and inspiring us to
brave the falling trees and power lines for some great birds) and to Hugh
McGuinness for the early on-the-spot information at Hook Pond.

A truly great day.
