Subject: [nysbirds-l] Access to Robert Moses and Captree SPs, Suffolk Co.

Access to the above parks remains limited as of this morning.

At Robert Moses, a blockade on the roadway before Field 4 is still in
place, preventing access to Fields 4 and 5 (including the hawkwatch and
lighthouse areas), while "cleanup and restoration" continues. The police
there yesterday told me they hoped the work would be finished by the
weekend. Fields 2 and 3 are open.

The 4-wheel drive access road to Democrat Point is still closed and
signed "Area closed due to tidal conditions". Of course, one can always
hike out there and enjoy having the place to oneself!

Captree State Park is closed to everyone except charter boat patrons and
crew. They have no electricity or water. A park worker there told me
they also hope to be open by the weekend but they could not be certain
at this point.

I only had time for a brief ride-around; from the car, at least, it
appeared to be very quiet birdwise.
