I was at Sunken Meadow Park around 9:45 when I heard about the Prothonotory
warbler, but could not find it after an hour of searching. Better luck at
Captree. The accommodating Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher was still visible when I
left around noon, in the open area just north of the overlook parking lot. To
reach this parking lot turn right after the toll booths, currently
unmanned.John Gluth re-found the Yellow-headed Blackbird by the turnaround off
Robt. Moses Parkway to Captree Island. Going north on Robt. Moses from Captree
boat basin, take the first right after the bridge (drawbridge) a couple of
hundred yaers north of where you get onto RM parkway. Take the loop until you
pass some construction equipment before the entrance to the Captree Island
community. There was a large mixed flock at the edge of the Robt. Moses,
frequenting the large sign over the RM parkway. The blackbird was in the trees
immediately west of the sign. This bird from the rear can easily be passed
over, as it is small and looks similar to a cowbird. The white-wing patches
mentioned previously are neglible with just a small white dot visible on the
closed wing. It appears to be a young maleGood luck and thanks to John Gluth
for letting everyone know
