Bobby Rosetti and I birded Dune Road this morning from around 8:30 to 10:30.
Although the marshes were flooded with very high water levels, surprisingly we
did not see any sparrows along the road, or much else other a few Harriers and
a Kingfisher. On the roof of the buildings / restaurants at Shinnecock there
was a 1st winter Lesser Black-backed Gull, hard to find on a roof best seen
from the northern side of the parking lot at the inlet. On Patchogue Lake there
were several species of duck as well as a Pied-billed Grebe, but we didn't see
any Redheads. The Eurasian Widgeon was on the east Side of nearby West Lake
with a small group of American Widgeon. Happy Thanksgiving
