My sister Barbara and I birded a few spots in and around Bridgehampton, Suffolk
County today.
The two highlights were
1) a beautifully plumaged YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT at the end of Dune Rd, east side
of Mecox Bay. The bird was in a pine close to the entrance to the parking lot.
It was quite cooperative, allowing us to observe him for a few minutes before
disappearing into the bramble.
2) A CACKLING GOOSE at Short's Pond on Scuttlehole Road.
Also at Short's were several BUFFLEHEADS, 10 Green-winged Teal, 10-12 Northern
Shoveler, and 10 Coot.
