This morning, Chris Wood and Jessie Barry found a WESTERN GREBE on Cayuga
Lake, Tompkins County, Town of Lansing, Myers Point Town Park. This is
located on the East side of Cayuga Lake about 7 miles North of Ithaca, NY.

The bird was sighted from the NYS DEC Marina and Myers Point Town Park
lighthouse. The bird was initially visible a ways out on the Lake to the
Southwest. The bird continued to work its way North. Several local-area
birders descended upon the site and got very identifiable scope views of the
bird.

I think some pictures were obtained.maybe links will be posted later.

When everyone left, the bird was about West-Northwest of the lighthouse and
working its way in an apparent straight line North, while actively diving.

Huge thanks to Chris and Jessie for this excellent find for the Finger Lakes
region!

Good birding!

Sincerely,
Chris T-H
