I had forgotten to mention Alec spotted an Osprey in Ringneck Marsh - and also a single Snowy Owl at the airport in Niagara Falls.
I headed out to Tifft this evening, and was directed to a Black-crowned Night Heron by a woman who I think works or volunteers at the preserve (I didn't catch her name, but thank you for the 1st of the year bird). Other birds were much the same as have been present over the past week or two - although the blackbirds seemed to be scattering into very small flocks or individuals. After leaving Tifft I decided to head to Beaver Island to see if I could hear any Woodcock, and I was able to catch up with two (and a possible third bird).
