Hello All, I Birded the mud flats for several hours this, quite
chilly morning, with Dick Belanger. We arrived about 9 am, a little before
dead low tide. The highlight at Cupsogue was 3 Marbled Godwits found feeding
along the southside of Gull Island,[ directly inside Moriches Inlet]. There
were also ten Greenwinged Teal,"lazing", on the bar in front of the
Godwits. We had a Forster's Tern, a few lingering Common's, 4 Least
Sandpiper, numerous BB Plover and Sanderling, 10 Greater Yellowlegs, 15
Great Blue Heron, 68 Black Skimmers, a few Red Breasted Nuthatch along the
sand track to the inlet, 2 Northern Harrier and several American Kestrals.
The bar at Pikes held 37 Royal Terns , one Caspian Tern and a single Ruddy
Turnstone. Good September Birding, Carl Starace
