Our NYC Audubon birding group had an excellent morning of birding in Central Park. We recorded 50 species. The highlights were seeing Purple Finches at three different locations (upper lobe, azalea pond and sparrow rock). We also saw 9 warbler species (Parula, Black-throated Blue, Yellow-rumped, Pine, Palm, Blackpoll, Black-and-white, Redstart and Common Yellowthroat). Our group had 5 species of thrush (Gray-cheeked, Swainson's, Hermit, Wood and Robin). The number of Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers exceeded 40. We did not have any Pine Siskins.
