On my (long) way out of Bayville, (NY) morning, I spotted a bald eagle at Ransom Beach at about 11:15 am. I was looking at a large group of gulls fly up and then saw something very large and dark also flying. It disappeared behind the building, i pulled over to get a better look & when it came out on the other side, sure enough - the white head confirmed it. Wow! Great way to start the week. Good luck if you go. (If you do go, you'll have to come in via Glen Cove/Locust Valley. West Shore rd is closed for the foreseeable future. The good news is that when you come in from the west, Ransom & Stelhi beaches are right there.)
