While bushwhacking off trail near an area with Cattails at Meadow Lake in
Flushing Queens, I found an *Orange-crowned Warbler*, that gave brief looks
before skedaddling into the surrounding brush. The area, if I looked
across the Grand Central Parkway a little South West, I could see exit *13 S
*. In the same area, an *American Tree Sparrow* was in a mixed flock of
sparrows that included Swamp and White-throated.

About 200 yards north of the location I picked up Crossbills calling behind
me and I managed to glass them as they caught up and passed me at eye level
heading north. The flock consisted of 5 *White-winged* and 2 *Red Crossbills
*. They continued on north and I tracked them until I losing the bunch as
they headed towards a building with the name, "Terrace on the Park".

The only other worthwhile mention from Meadow Lake, would be the number of
Song Sparrows; I counted 23 as I worked the edges around the entire lake
and some areas off trail.
