When I got off the subway at 42nd and Sixth Avenue this morning, I caught a glimpse of a bird with an olive-colored back in the bushes just south of Byant Park's NW entrance plaza (where the 'whichcraft booth is). I waited around a few minutes and was rewarded with a nice view of an Ovenbird. Its orange medial crown stripe was somewhat faded but fairly distinct between the black border stripes. Not sure if this is the same individual I saw many times at this location in October and November; that one was uncharacteristically bold for an Ovenbird, this one more typically shy. Well, as shy as you can be when hanging around midtown Manhattan.
