My wife Lynne & I walked down to Squassux Landing in Brookhaven hamlet late yesterday afternoon and found a large flock of Common Mergansers rafted up south of the landing in Carmen's River in a cove along the west side. The Landing is private, but you can park at the end of Beaver Dam Road and walk south around the locked gate along the river to the end of a loop road, mergansers were easily visible to the south of that position. Also present, Mallard, Black Duck , Gadwall, American Coot & Pied-billed Grebe.
