Good Evening All;

I received an e-mail from a Jersey birder, Mr. Bernstein (see below), with
regards to the morning sighting of the *Varied Thrush* at Prospect Park in
Brooklyn. He has given me permission to forwards his note to the list
serve. I think his observation may help birders in trying to re-find the
Varied Thrush *(almost used the 4 letter code). *Maybe those of us on the
ground today, should have been looking further afield??

I posted some not so great photos (obtained yesterday) on my blog which is
no where near some of the excellent open shots already posted, but gives an
idea of how tough this bird could be when on the ground and in the shadows
to find as well to get a decent photo of. See here

Hope it shows tomorrow and more people get to see it.

Good and Responsible Birding!

Hi Andrew,

I was among a dozen folks who saw the bird this morning. After we watched
the bird root around in the leaves, it flew over us and landed in a tree
over our heads. At 9:10, the bird took off to the east. It seemed to me at
the time that I was viewing a bird leaving the area entirely. Just a
feeling, like when you view a flock of Robins or Waxwings pick themselves
up and leave.

I'm not familiar with the park at all- first time visitor from Jersey, but
it may be advisable to check other areas of the park. Just a buck fifty
worth of thought from me. Have a good evening.
