Fellow Birders;
Early this afternoon, Eric Miller and I enjoyed the continuing Hooded
Warbler at Oakland Lake, Queens County. It was last seen at about 1:00, having
moved to the north side of the Springfield Blvd entrance, in a very moist and
densely vegetated ravine. It seemed to favor some small (and flowering) apple
trees; I did not hear in singing, but it was calling quite softly, which led
us to the slightly new location. An American Redstart, Palm, Yellow-rumped,
and Yellow Warblers were also in the area.
