Hi John, Since no one posted a full report from Cupsogue yesterday, I should let you know that Black, Roseate and Arctic Terns were all seen at the Cupsogue flats yesterday. As you know so was the Elegant Tern, which was seen at Tiana Beach down the road from Cupsogue.
Regardless if someone posts about those birds today, just go out there and enjoy the many birds that are around. Willets on Dune road, Shorebirds like Short-billed Dowitchers all give nice looks on Dune Road. On the flats, besides the rarities, there are always Terns to look at and in a nice variation of plumages this time of the year. We also have a hybrid calidrid believed to be Dunlin X White-rumped Sandpiper which is a neat bird to observe. I have photos of that bird here as well as my write up of the Elegant Tern encounter with Andy Guthrie and Michael Scheibel.
