Just flown in and is bathing on the west side of the island on the north
end. Thanks to Patricia Lindsay for the heads up call.

Re: the Baird's, seeing this bird again and getting more field study time
of it with Isaac Grant, Doug Futuyma, and Steve Walter, I am confident it
looks good for an adult Baird's in molting plumage.

I'll post more photos later.

Quick FYI. Unless you came up from the South End or were already past the
North East corner, I would advise against entering the pond from the North
East entrance. Doing otherwise will flush all the birds at that corner
including the Ruff.

You can scope the bird from the north west side as some folks are doing
right now.

Hello all,

Here is a link to photos of today's Ruff at Jamaica Bay East
Pond<http://birdingdude.blogspot.com/2013/07/ruff-redux-at-jamaica-bay-wildlife.html>(
http://birdingdude.blogspot.com/2013/07/ruff-redux-at-jamaica-bay-wildlife.html)
. The birds looks a lot like last year's "Rufus"/'Rufous" Ruff.

Included in my post are the shorebird numbers from today, for those of you
who are interested in what shorebirds are present. Lots of birds, but the
diversity has not started building as yet. It is *very, very hot* out on
the East Pond, so if you decide to visit, have lots of water and light
clothes. Remember knee high boots are best to shorebird on the East Pond.

Good luck and Good Shorebirding!
